Placer County deputies shoot, kill murder suspect after standoff
A man wanted for murder was shot and killed in a shootout overnight Monday involving Placer County Sheriff's deputies. Derek Spencer, 44, was killed around 4 a.m. after he fired shots toward deputies, officials said. Authorities had been searching for the man since Sunday after a series of alleged crimes, including pointing a firearm at people in Placer County, ramming a law enforcement patrol car, and shooting and killing a woman in her home.
