AI Steered Weather Balloon Launch
Quite a treat for young minds at Exploratorium, San Francisco witnessing the launch of an AI steered weather balloon. Traditional weather balloons are typically launched twice a day providing one snapshot of the atmosphere. Local company WindBorne Systems AI steered weather balloons can stay aloft much longer and collect data over areas that are largely unobserved, especially the Pacific Ocean where many of our storms begin. The technology could help lead to greater confidence in weather forecasting.
