Weekend weather changes you need to know about
1. King Tide Flooding: 1.7 Feet of Inundation A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for minor shoreline flooding. Low-lying parking lots, coastal parks, pathways and roads will experience saltwater flooding nightly. The advisory runs until 4:00 AM Wednesday morning for the Pacific Coast beaches, and remains active until 4:00 AM Thursday for the inner San Francisco Bay shoreline. 2. Fire Weather Watch: Tropical Monsoon Surge (Late Weekend) On Saturday night through Sunday, a deep plume of monsoonal moisture surges from the Gulf of California. If these clouds manage to spark thunderstorms, any falling rain will evaporate in the hot, bone-dry lower air before touching the soil (virga). This creates a dangerous "low probability, high impact" scenario for a dry lightning storm. Because regional plants and brush are rapidly drying out, dry lightning hits combined with erratic, gusty thunderstorm winds could instantly ignite explosive wildfires. Pockets of high-based rain showers may slide through Monday.
