Cooler, windy, dangerous surf today
The Bay Area is settling into a much cooler fall pattern this weekend, with gusty winds, and a mix of morning clouds and afternoon sunshine for Fleet Week Festivities in SF. Weekend highs will generally reach the 60s and 70s, with the warmest conditions inland. BEACH HAZARD STATEMENT for Beachgoers as long-period southerly swell is increasing the risk of sneaker waves and strong rip currents. A second, powerful northwesterly swell is expected to arrive Sunday, with breaking waves potentially reaching 16 feet. COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY until Tuesday for vulnerable coastal and Bay shoreline locations during high tides. The cooler pattern will continue into early next week as an upper-level trough keeps temperatures below seasonal averages. There’s a slight chance for a few light showers Sunday-Monday. High pressure is expected to build back into the region by midweek, bringing drier conditions and a gradual return to warmer daytime temperatures.
