One male is dead and another is injured after being gunned down in San Jose.

The shooting occurred on North White Road near McKee Road. Police say two males with gunshot wounds were brought in by friends to Regional Medical Center just before 6:30 p.m. Monday. A 16-year-old died at the hospital of his injuries, while an 18-year-old is expected to survive.

Officers named 19-year-old suspect, Alexander Lozano as a person of interest. He has been booked in the Santa Clara County Jail for homicide and assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the shootings.

Officers had the scene roped off for hours while they canvassed the neighborhood and looked for witnesses. It's unknown what led up to the shooting and the motive is unclear.

The area is known for some gang activity, although at this point police have not said whether they believe it is gang related. No suspect description has been released.
