1 dead in crash on eastbound I-580 in San Leandro

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (BCN) - One person died in a crash Tuesday afternoon on eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in San Leandro, according to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol. 

The CHP received a call about the crash at Dutton Avenue, which may have involved two vehicles, at 2:29 p.m., Officer John Fransen said.

The vehicles traveled off the road and one person died as a result of the crash. 

The Dutton Avenue off-ramp was briefly closed but has since reopened.

CHP officials said to expect residual delays.
