1 person found dead in Sunnyvale house fire
SUNNYVALE (BCN) - One person lost their life in an early morning two-alarm fire at a Sunnyvale home Tuesday, according to a public safety captain.
The fire was reported at the corner of Fisherhawk and Cardigan drives at about 5 a.m., Department of Public Safety Capt. Jeff Hunter said.
The single-story house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Crews fought the fire defensively to prevent it from spreading.
They managed to control the blaze, but the house was left with its roof caved in and the exterior walls unstable. After firefighters arrived on scene, it took a little over an hour to put the blaze out, according to Hunter.
A body was found in the burned home. That person has not been identified, but neighbors told firefighters that an elderly man lives there, according to Hunter.
It could be several days before investigators determine a cause for the fire, but so far there are no indications of anything suspicious, according to Hunter.
