12 homes in Hayward affected by fire; 4 were under construction
HAYWARD, Calif. - Firefighters in Hayward battled a blaze that affected four homes under construction on Thursday morning.
Eight other homes had heat damage and some blown-out windows, but no injuries have been reported.
Battalion Chief Mike Hidebrand said the fire broke out at 1:30 a.m. at Toomey Terrace. He said crews had the fire under control in about 30 minutes.
A cause has not been determined.
