14 people rescued from Santa Cruz County beach

More than a dozen people were rescued Sunday after they became stranded on a beach near Davenport, California Highway Patrol officials said.

According to CHP, 14 people were stranded at Panther Beach due to rising tides.

Multiple rescue and emergency agencies responded to the scene where Cal Fire crews began rigging a raising system to haul some of the victims to safety. A helicopter crew also responded and quickly rescued the remaining stranded victims.
