17-year-old fatally shot in West Oakland, police say

OAKLAND, Calif. - A 17-year-old boy died after he was shot in West Oakland early Thursday morning, police said.
Officers who responded to the 800 block of West Grand Avenue at 12:18 a.m. on Thursday after receiving a report of gunshots found the teen suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police. Paramedics transported him to a hospital but he was pronounced dead sometime later, police said.
The Alameda County coroner's office on Friday said there was a "press hold" on releasing any information.
Oakland police said their investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing and anyone who has information about it should call their homicide unit at (510) 238-3821.
