18-year-old arrested for allegedly exposing himself to women

An 18-year-old Redwood City man who allegedly exposed himself to unsuspecting women walking in the city's Redwood Shores neighborhood on at least three different occasions was arrested Thursday morning, police said.

Around 9:30 a.m., officers located Isaiah Diaz in San Mateo and arrested him on suspicion of indecent exposure.

Police had been seeking Diaz for more than a month after in connection to the indecent exposure incidents.

The first incident occurred on Sept. 11 around 3 p.m. near Marlin Drive and Davit Lane, police said. The suspect allegedly pulled up to a 36-year-old woman who was walking her dogs. The suspect motioned for the woman to come over to his vehicle and as she approached, he exposed himself, according to police.

The second incident happened on Oct. 9 around 6:55 p.m. near Shearwater Parkway and Canvasback Way. There, the suspect pulled up to a 24-year-old woman who walking. The suspect again motioned for the woman to come toward his vehicle and exposed himself, police said.

The next day on Oct. 10, around 12:40 p.m., the suspect drove up to a 47-year-old woman who was walking near Redwood Shores Parkway and Egret Lane. The suspect motioned for the woman to approach his car, asking her for directions, according to police. When the woman looked into his vehicle, she saw that the man was masturbating. The suspect immediately drove away, however, the victim was able to give a description of the suspect and his vehicle to an officer, police said.

The responding officer was able to find a nearby home with a surveillance system.

After reviewing the footage, the officer observed a vehicle that matched the description and was able to get a license plate number, according to police. Through the license plate number, investigators were able to identify Diaz as the suspect. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, police said.
