2 arrested after high-speed chase ends in Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KTVU) - Two men are in custody after taking officers from multiple agencies on a high-speed chase across two East Bay counties late Wednesday night.

Alameda County Sheriff deputies began the pursuit in the San Lorenzo Castro Valley area.

The men driving an SUV led deputies along 680 where officials say speeds were upwards of 100 miles per hour.

The chase finally ended in Walnut Creek where the men crashed into several cars.

One suspect was taken into custody at the scene but the other managed to escape officers before he was found and detained.

When investigators searched the SUV they found items what appeared to be an officer’s belt, radio and other items.

The aftermath of the chase led to the closure of North Main Street in Walnut Creek for over two hours.
