2 Investigates wins three Edward R. Murrow Awards

The special report “Heroin in the Bay” won in the Feature Reporting category. 2 Investigates took an in-depth look the heroin problem in the Bay Area, met with the people on the front lines fighting heroin addiction, and examined why other cities are now looking here to see what’s working.

And finally, 2 Investigates won a Murrow Award in the Continuing Coverage category for its series of reports on overcrowding at John George Psychiatric Hospital in Alameda County, titled “Mental Hospital Hell.” Over five months, the series of stories triggered major changes at the hospital, including hiring of more staff and the resignation of the hospital's director. 2 Investigates’ coverage also led to a state investigation into reports of violence at the facility.
