Firefighters rescue people from burning home

Two residents and their pets were rescued Sunday morning when their home in Emerald Lake Hills in San Mateo County caught fire, Cal Fire said.

WOODSIDE, Calif. - Two residents and their pets were rescued Sunday morning when their home in Emerald Lake Hills in San Mateo County caught fire, Cal Fire said. 

One of the residents was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and was last reported to be in stable condition. The two pets rescued were also reported to be in stable condition. 

Officials said the blazes prompted a two-alarm response from crews. 

The Brief

    • Two people and pets were rescued after a fire broke out at a home in unincorporated San Mateo County near Woodside
    • One person was transported to a hospital for injuries

Officials said they were able to quickly knock down the fire before it had the chance to spread to nearby homes or vegetation.

What we don't know:

The cause of the fire remains unclear.
