2 women killed in South San Jose crash, DUI suspect arrested
SAN JOSE, Calif. (KTVU) - A 34-year-old man has been arrested, suspected in a drunk driving crash in South San Jose that claimed the lives of two women.
Investigators say Marvin Gatherwright was behind the wheel when he crashed into a Honda Accord at Camden Avenue and Bose Lane, around 9 pm Sunday night.
95-year-old Marjorie Devine and 73-year-old Donna Perucca who were passengers in the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Honda driver, a 75-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with critical injuries, according to San Jose Police Sgt. Enrique Garcia.
Gatherwright was injured and treated at a hospital, before being booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI, police said.
