2 year-old girl injured by flying glass in Christmas night drive-by shooting in Richmond

 RICHMOND, Calif. (KTVU) -- A woman and a 2-year-old girl were injured in a drive-by shooting Christmas night in Richmond, police said.

The Shotspotter system alert officers about gunfire on the 600 block of Florida Avenue.

Shotspotter indicated 18 shots had been fired around 10:50 p.m. Friday.

Officers went to the scene, and determined that someone drove up to a car, and opened fire.

The victims' car was occupied by five people, including a 2-year-old girl.

Their car was struck by eight or nine shots, according to authorities.

One woman suffered a graze wound, while the girl was scraped by broken glass.

Police had first feared she was shot.

After the shooting, the driver of the victims car, raced towards a hospital, but was met by an officer responding to the shooting. The injured girl was put in the patrol car and taken to the hospital, authorities said.

investigators say that they have not yet determined a motive in the shooting, and that there is no suspect information available at this time.
