21-year-old man dies after crashing into construction site on I-880

HAYWARD, Calif. (KTVU) - A 21-year-old San Jose man died after crashing into a road construction site in Hayward on Saturday morning.

At around 3:15 a.m. on Interstate 880, near Winton Avenue, Cameron Behrens allegedly crashed a 2015 Nissan into a Dodge pick-up truck legally parked in the construction zone.

When officers arrived, a passerby was performing CPR on Behrens but he died of his injuries. 

CHP officer Custodio Lopez sys Behrens' breath smelled of alcohol. 

The crash sent debris into the air, hitting a couple of construction workers. They suffered minor injuries.
