2nd Santa Rosa package thief arrested after police receive tips

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KTVU) - Santa Rosa police made a second holiday package thief arrest on Tuesday. A previous package thief arrest was made where a man accused of trailing UPS trucks and stealing packages off of porches as soon as they were delivered, was taken into custody last Friday.
Property Crimes detectives arrested a suspect whose photo was released and distributed on social media in connection to previous package thefts.
After receiving several anonymous tips regarding the identity of the suspect, police arrested Jennifer Ann Welsh, a 36-year-old Santa Rosa resident, around 2:30 p.m. She was located and arrested near her home.
Police said Welsh admitting to taking the package in the incident, but the stolen property was not recovered. She has been booked in the Sonoma County Jail on theft charges.
