3-acre Crown Fire 100 percent contained

Fire crews contained a three-alarm vegetation fire burning near a middle school and several homes in Castro Valley on Wednesday, officials said.

Alameda County Fire tweeted there were no reports of injuries and a fire bulldozer cut a containment line around the fire and that mop up was in progress. 

Sheriff's deputies have deployed unmanned aerial vehicle's (UAV) to identify hot spots.  

 

Fire officials first reported the blaze near Crown Court shortly before 3:00 p.m. The so called Crown Fire burned around three acres. Cal Fire provided resources to assist Alameda County firefighters and forward progress was stopped just before 3:30 p.m.

No evacuations were issued. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

Authorities closed Crow Canyon Road between Waterfored Place and Greenridge Road. No word on when the road is expected to reopen.
