3-year-old boy hit and killed chasing dog in street

HAYWARD, Calif. (BCN) - A 3-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car Friday evening in Hayward has been identified by the Alameda County coroner as Marley Dixon of Stockton.
Dixon was crossing northbound Fabian Way near Harvey Avenue when a Jeep Wrangler traveling east hit him at about 6:45 p.m., according to police.
The driver, a 48-year-old Hayward man, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Dixon died at Eden Hospital shortly after he was taken there, police said.
Some witnesses have told investigators the boy was chasing after a dog that ran across the street when he was hit by the car.
