5 homicides reported since Friday in San Francisco, 4 victims wounded by gunfire

Five people were victims of homicides in San Francisco since Friday, police said Monday.
   
Of those, four were shot and one was stabbed. Four other people were wounded by gunfire in the city over the weekend. The violence happened throughout the city, from the Tenderloin and South of Market neighborhoods to Visitacion Valley.
   
The victim of a fatal shooting Friday morning has been identified as 24-year-old Mitchell Warren of San Francisco, according to the San Francisco medical examiner's office.
   
Warren was found suffering from gunshot wounds round 4:30 a.m. near Polk and Ellis streets, police said. No arrest was made and a description of the armed male suspect was not immediately available.
   
Later that night, around 8:15 p.m., another homicide occurred in the 900 block of Ellsworth Street in the Bernal Heights area, police said.
   
There, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he died, according to police.
   
The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Demetrius Jones, medical examiner's officials said.
   
On Saturday, an early morning shooting in the unit block of Sixth
Street in the South of Market neighborhood injured a 33-year-old man, according to police.
   
Officers responded to the scene around 2:25 a.m., where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
   
The victim said he initially heard a loud sound before realizing he had been shot. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, police said.
   
The suspect, described as a man between 18 and 20 years old, fled on foot on Market Street, toward Fifth Street. Officers were unable to locate him and no arrest was made.
   
Later that day, around 2:05 p.m., the San Francisco Sheriff's
Department altered police that a 19-year-old shooting victim had arrived at the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.
   
Officers determined the shooting occurred in the 200 block of Hahn Street, in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood. No arrest has been made in that shooting and a description of the suspect was not immediately available.
   
Then around 4 p.m., officers responded to a report of another shooting in the unit block of Burr Avenue, also in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood, police said.
   
There, officers found a 37-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to police.
   
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old San Francisco resident Giovanni Hernandez, according to the medical examiner's office.
   
Early Sunday morning, around 2 a.m., officers again responded to a report of another shooting in the South of Market neighborhood, this time at Sixth and Bryant streets, police said.
   
Three people were found suffering from gunshot wounds. The three male victims were taken to a hospital. Two of the victims suffered injuries not considered life-threatening.
   
The third victim died at the hospital. He has been identified as
26-year-old Stockton resident John Sanyaolu, according to the medical examiner's office.
   
The suspects, who were not apprehended, were described as two men between the ages of 25 and 30, police said.
   
Later that afternoon, around 4:45 p.m., officers responded to the
2600 block of California Street in the Pacific Heights neighborhood, according to police.
   
There, they found a woman in her 60s suffering from a stab wound.

She was taken to a hospital, where she died, police said.
   
The victim's identity has not been released, pending notification of her family.
   
A 59-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing, according to police. His name was not immediately released.
   
Aside from the stabbing homicide, police have announced no arrests in this weekend's violence.
