7-year-old boy on scooter killed by SUV in Santa Cruz County, CHP says

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY (BCN) - A 7-year-old boy died when an SUV hit him as he was on a scooter Monday afternoon in unincorporated Santa Cruz County, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The collision was reported at 2:38 p.m. at 10212 Newell Creek Road northeast of Ben Lomond.
CHP Officer J. Trenado said a white Toyota 4Runner, which was in a driveway, collided with the boy.
Trenado said the driver of the Toyota did not see the youth.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have played a part in the collision, according to the CHP.
