84-year-old woman in serious condition after hit-and-run

An 84-year-old woman remains in serious condition this morning after a hit-and-run crash in Santa Rosa Saturday evening and police are asking for the public's help to find the driver.

Around 8:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to 1550 Pacific Avenue after receiving a report of a crash involving an injured pedestrian, according to police.

At the scene, officers found an elderly woman who had been struck by a vehicle that fled the area, police said.

Several witnesses stopped to help the injured victim.

She was taken to a hospital with fractures to her spine, head trauma and multiple lacerations, according to police.

Witness at the scene said the driver fled immediately after the crash without stopping to help the elderly victim.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a late 90s to early 2000s white sedan, similar to a Toyota Corolla, possibly with four doors.

The driver was described as a woman in her 50s or 60s.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Officer Josh Kertianis at (707) 543-3636.
