A 9-year-old girl has died after a hit-and-run Tuesday night in Oakland, leaving three others injured and police looking for the driver and occupants of an Infinity SUV.

The Alameda County Coroner's office identified the girl as Zayda Monge. The office did not release her city of residence.

The crash at the intersection of 35th and Paxton avenues also left a 25-year-old woman and two girls in her car – ages 8 and 10 – with injuries. Police Officer Johnna Watson said Wednesday morning all of them were in stable condition. Zayna had also been in that car and had initially been taken to the hospital in critical condition. She was pronounced dead later on Wednesday.

Watson said it appears as though the woman driving the Toyota Corolla was near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Custer Street making a U-turn to go southbound on 35th when the SUV  going  southbound on 35th crashed into her and her young passengers.

The impact caused both vehicles to hit other parked vehicles. The driver and other occupants of the SUV ran away before police arrived, Watson said.

Watson said it is unknown if alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision, although it appears that speed may be a contributing factor.
