A fully accessible car was stolen from a young, paralyzed Scotts Valley woman.

According to a report by KSBW, Kendra Kannegaard was left with paralyzed legs six years ago after surgery to remove a tumor from her spine.

In a Facebook post she wrote, "You did not just steal a car, you stole something far more important- my independence. This car represents the independence I have worked so hard for six years to achieve. This car enables me to get myself in and out all on my own and means that I no longer have to depend on my friends and family."

The car was parked near to her family's home in Scott's Valley last Friday night. The next morning it was gone.

"For someone to do that is so sad. It's designed to help someone more than just a regular car," said Kendra.

"It is fully accessible, which means i can open up my car. I drop down a ramp and roll my entire chair inside and park inside the passenger seat.." Kendra said.

She needs her missing car to get to her physical therapy appointments, the after school high school drama class she teaches, and to drive over-the-hlll to San Jose State and back each day.

"It has allowed me to achieve so many milestones and I'm absolutely devastated that someone would just take it," she said."

The vehicle is a gray and black 2005 Honda Element with license plate number 6GJN096 with a purple Lumpy Space Princess Sticker on the back window. A ramp with ropes and pulleys is visible through the passenger side window.

Kendra's friend has been helping her get in and out of a loaner car.

"It's awful, totally senseless. Kendra is the last person on earth who deserves something like this," said Kaitlyn Atchley.

Police say they are investigating, but so far, no luck. Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to contact police.
