Accidentally released homicide suspect rearrested after more than 5 months
Isaiah Andrews, 20, was accidentally released from the Martinez Detention Facility in October 2025.
MARTINEZ, Calif. - A 20-year-old homicide suspect who was mistakenly released from a Martinez jail last October was found and arrested in Missouri on Wednesday.
What we know:
Isaiah Jamon Andrews, of Kent, Washington was found and arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service on Wednesday in Saint Louis, Missouri, according to a Seattle Police Department statement.
Seattle police said Andrews will eventually be extradited back to Washington.
The backstory:
In October 2025, Andrews was in custody in the Martinez Detention Facility on charges connected to a police pursuit involving Pittsburg and Antioch police as well as Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies.
He was also wanted on an arrest warrant for homicide stemming from the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Theodore Wheeler outside a Seattle hotel, which occurred several days before he was arrested in the Bay Area, authorities said.
However, Andrews was "mistakenly released" from the facility on Oct. 22, and had been on the run ever since his recapture on Wednesday.
