Air ambulances respond to 6-vehicle crash on WB Hwy 37 in Vallejo

All lanes of westbound Highway 37 in Vallejo reopened Wednesday night at around 9 p.m. following a  six-vehicle crash at the Sonoma Boulevard off ramp. 

Vallejo Fire Department had shutdown all lanes of westbound Highway 37 shortly after the crash was reported at 6:46 p.m.

Multiple helicopter ambulances responded to the scene. There are multiple patients being transported, some of which are being taken to Oakland Children's Hospital. At least one victim was taken by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

Solano County Fire said at least four ground ambulances were also at the scene. They reported on Twitter that a "fire ball" could be seen at the time of the accident. 

A freelance reporter told KTVU that the engine of one of the vehicles was completely out of the car.
