An Alameda County firefighter scooped up a dog that was nearly hit by a car on Spruce Street in Newark, officials said.

The department released the news on both their official Facebook and Twitter accounts Thursday evening.

Truck 28 retrieved the "energetic" dog and brought it to the station. The dog doesn't have tags, only a collar. The owner of the dog should contact Newark Police Department.
