All lanes of Hwy 9 open after fatal crash near Saratoga

The California Highway Patrol says they found two drunk drivers in one car in the North Bay this week.

All lanes of state Highway 9 east of Saratoga are open tonight after a crash that killed one minor and injured two others this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officers responded to a call at about 3:20 p.m. that a vehicle had run off the road and down a 50-foot embankment near Sanborn Road, CHP spokesman Ross Lee said.

The vehicle was fully engulfed by flames before emergency crews arrived. All but one person was able to get clear of the car, Lee said.

Passengers told officers that the driver, who died in the crash, was going a little too fast downhill and lost control of the vehicle on a curve. The passengers both suffered minor injuries.

All lanes are now open.
