Anti-gang program to expand across Contra Costa County

Contra Costa County supervisors will expand an anti-gang program across the county and are looking for a coordinator for the work, county officials said.

The program called Operation Ceasefire has been operating in Richmond for several years with a significant drop in violent crime, Supervisor Federal Glover said in a statement.

Operation Ceasefire has been successful in Boston, Chicago and Stockton, among other major cities.

The strategy behind Operation Ceasefire is based on research and experience and has evolved to be a comprehensive approach to deter violence while providing employment training, jobs and other services.

Anyone interested in the position of coordinator can review the request for qualifications at http://www.cccounty.us/2366/services-programs.

Questions about the request for qualifications can be submitted to lara.delaney@cao.cccounty.us by noon Monday.

Final responses are due on the 10th floor of 651 Pine St. in Martinez by noon Nov. 17.
