Snow and icy roadways caused much of metro Atlanta to shut down Wednesday, but that didn't stop Dr. E. Dean McKenzie, CHOA's Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery, from getting to work. It was too dangerous for him to drive, so he made alternate plans.

"He walked a mile through snow and ice to get to the hospital," CHOA said on Facebook, sharing a photo of Dr. McKenzie holding one of his patients. "Thank you to the men and women on our staff who made it possible to continue with surgeries, procedures, and exams as winter weather swirled outside this week!

CHOA's Facebook post has more than 14,000 likes, and that number continues to grow.
