Authorities believe they have located Tracy woman's car in Alameda Creek

According to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, deputies believe they have located the car of a woman who crashed into Alameda Creek near Fremont.

Authorities believe the woman's body is inside the car, which is located in the middle of the creek.

The car the woman was driving went into Alameda Creek over the weekend.

On Saturday morning Alameda County sheriff's deputies received a call that a silver Honda had plunged into the creek two miles east of Palermo’s Road. Dublin CHP says the driver was an 18-year-old woman from Tracy. They say her car crossed over the double yellow lines and hit another Honda before falling into the creek.

Searchers have been relying mainly on drones and helicopter to try to find the vehicle, since it was dangerous to enter the water.

Authorities say the water level and the current have been too strong for divers to get into the water for a recovery effort.

Niles Canyon Road has been closed in the area for the search and rescue operation. It's expected to reopen at 3 p.m.
