Band members detained for scalping Outside Lands festival wristbands

SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) -- Police detained three people affiliated with the band Fantastic Negrito including the group's lead singer Saturday at the Outside Lands festival in San Francisco on suspicion of peddling without a permit, police said.

Officers acted on a tip from staff with Another Planet Entertainment and detained the trio at about noon at the corner of 25th Avenue and Fulton Street, according to police. The three were allegedly selling non-transferable artist wristbands, police said.

Officers identified the trio as Oakland resident and Fantastic Negrito lead singer Xavier Dphrrpaulezz, 40, San Francisco resident John Beckmeyer, 22, and San Francisco resident Alistar Monroe, 44, according to police.

Officers took the three to the Richmond Command Center, located inside the festival grounds, where they were cited and released, according to police.

Band members told KTVU that they were unaware of a Craigslist ad that a band intern had posted advertising the sale of the artist wristbands. The band’s Saturday performance at the festival was canceled.
