Bank robber shot by officer in South San Francisco

A bank robber was shot in an officer-involved shooting in South San Francisco on Friday.

According to police, officers responded to a report of an armed bank robbery at 10:12 a.m. at the San Mateo Credit Union located at 150 El Camino Real in South San Francisco.

Witnesses said a man in his 40's, wearing a mask, robbed the bank at gunpoint. 

Officers saw the suspect as he was leaving the building. 

Police say the suspect refused commands to drop his gun and officers shot him. 

The man was taken into custody and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital. 

No one else was injured.
