BART maintenance to delay service today

BART trains operating east of the Rockridge station in Oakland this afternoon will run every 20 to 40 minutes, as crews need to do maintenance inside the Caldecott BART Tunnel, BART officials said.

The work will start at 2 p.m. and be completed before the start of service Monday morning.

Some regularly scheduled trains may turn back toward Pittsburg/Bay Point at the Orinda station, according to BART officials.

The work will also affect passengers who plan to transfer to a San Francisco- or Peninsula-bound train at Oakland's MacArthur station.

Transfers to other transit services will be affected as well. BART officials said the work cannot be completed outside of service hours but will result in more reliable service.
