BART police nab suspect in attacks

(KTVU) - The shooting happened about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 1300 block of Broadway. A man, later identified as Cervando Sterling-Valdez, 22, got into a confrontation with someone near Delauer's Newsstand and fired an Uzi-type pistol he had hidden underneath his jacket.

The man he had been aiming for wasn't hit. Instead, a woman half a block away was shot. She is expected to survive.

Oakland police Lt. Angelica Mendoza witnessed the argument and the shooting and chased the suspect before losing him.

Anyone with information on Sterling-Valdez's whereabouts is asked to call Oakland police at (510) 238-3426.
