BART service resumes following computer problem that halted all trains

The Lake Merritt BART station was virtually a ghost town on the first shelter-in-place day for Oakland. March 17, 2020

BART service resumed Sunday morning following a systemwide outage that halted all trains and closed every station.

The "systemwide computer problem" prevented BART from beginning service as scheduled at 8 a.m.

The agency tweeted that all service had resumed at 12:21 p.m.

BART officials have not yet determined what caused the computer problem.
