Bay Area unemployment in June very low

June unemployment in the San Francisco Bay Area was very low, data from the California Employment Development Department shows.

Each of the Bay Area's nine counties had unemployment below 5 percent. San Mateo County's unemployment rate was the lowest at 2.5 percent, followed by San Francisco at 2.6 percent and Marin County at 2.7 percent.

The highest unemployment rate in the Bay Area was in Solano County at 4.2 percent, which matched the statewide rate, a record low.

Santa Clara County's unemployment rate was 2.9 percent. Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa and Sonoma counties all had rates of 3 to 3.5 percent.

Nationwide, the unemployment rate was 4 percent.
