Bay Area's baby new year?

Baby boy born at midnight in Castro Valley

 CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. (KTVU) -- One family is celebrating the new year with a baby believed to be the first one born in 2016 in the Bay Area.

No pictures are available as of early Friday morning. But officials at Sutter Health say the baby boy was delivered at the stroke of midnight at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.

The boy is named Edward, and weighed in at 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and is 20 inches long.

The proud parents are Michelle Beanes and James Pierce from Hayward.

Doctors say both mom and baby are in good health.
