Berkeley police identify suspect in theft of laptop, make arrest

BERKELEY (BCN) Saturday morning police arrested a man suspected of stealing a laptop at a cafe in Berkeley last Tuesday.

The theft was reported around 10:30 a.m. by a customer at Cafe Strada at 2300 College Ave.

Police said the victim was seated in the patio area and working on the laptop when the suspect allegedly took the computer right out of the victim's hands.

A video of the robbery was posted online at https://youtu.be/GkcDGeQURA8.

Witnesses were able to give a description of the suspect and the getaway vehicle, and police identified 20-year-old Kenneth Anthony Hendon as a suspect.

He was spotted in the 1700 block of Alcatraz Avenue around 11:40 a.m. Saturday and arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Police are asking laptop users to "remain aware and alert" while using their computers in public, and avoid leaving valuable devices unattended.
