Big waves, dangerous currents predicted along California

Swimmers and surfers are being warned of dangerous rip currents and waves up to 10 feet along southern and central California beaches.

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for Los Angeles and Orange counties through 6 p.m. Tuesday

Forecasters say minor flooding of low-lying coastal areas is possible during high tides.

A small craft advisory is in effect to indicate hazardous sea conditions for boaters.

The event, resulting from a particularly strong west-northwest swell, will intensify as the week goes on. Forecasters say the flooding risk will grow by Thursday.
