Brush fire closes all lanes of WB I-580 in Livermore

A brush fire that closed Interstate Highway 580 east of Greenville Road in unincorporated Livermore burned 17 acres but was contained within 45 minutes, the Alameda County Fire Department said.

Officials said the fire, reported at 3:18 p.m., was caused by a wheel falling off a pickup truck, possibly due to mechanical failure.

The Alameda County Fire Department, Cal Fire, and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded with one air attack, two air tankers, one helicopter, two bulldozers, one water tender, and 12 fire
engines.

"There were no reports of injuries or structures threatened," the department said.
