Cal Fire and Napa County Fire quickly extinguish vegetation fire
NAPA, Calif (KTVU) - The quick work of firefighters with Cal Fire and the Napa County Fire Department kept a vegetation fire from spreading to more than half an acre Sunday afternoon.
The incident reportedly started just before 1:30 PM on the 4900 block of Atlas Peak Road in Napa, not far from the Silverado Country Club.
According to a Cal Fire spokesperson, the forward rate of spread of the fire was stopped and contained in less than 30 minutes.
Firefighters relied on help from above as well. Photos provided by a KTVU viewer show a helicopter with a water bucket drop water onto the burning vegetation below.
As of 5:30 PM, investigators continue to search for the cause of the fire. PG&E responded to downed power lines in the area at the time of the incident, but so far Cal Fire is unable to confirm the downed power lines ignited the blaze.
No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.
