A car fire closed San Francisco's MacArthur Tunnel Sunday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The San Francisco Fire Department reported around 12:48 p.m. that a vehicle was engulfed in flames on the southbound side of the tunnel.

Authorities say the tunnel had to be evacuated in both directions.

The fire was out by 1:27 p.m. and California Highway Patrol officers later reopened the tunnel in both directions.

There were no reports of any injuries.
