CONCORD, Calif. (BCN) - The Carpool to BART program is expanding this month to Concord and Pleasant Hill after it officially debuted last month at the San Bruno and Millbrae stations, Concord officials said.
Starting Monday commuters can get a guaranteed parking spot until 10 a.m. at the Concord BART station at 1451 Oakland Ave. in Concord and at the Pleasant Hill BART station at 1365 Treat Blvd. in Walnut Creek when they use the Scoop carpool app.
Concord officials said that commuters who carpool with Scoop can park anywhere in the permit area of the station.
After they put a placard from Scoop on the dashboard of their car, BART parking enforcement staff will use the placard and the commuter's license plate to validate that the person carpooled that day with Scoop.
The Carpool to BART program was pilot-tested at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station, increasing carpooling since it launched in January, BART officials said.
An advantage of the app is that people can go to work later in the morning since they'll have a parking space.
Scoop had 65,000 users last month. Parking is free for a limited time at the BART stations where carpoolers can use Scoop, Concord officials said.
Commuters can download the Scoop app at takescoop.com.
