Charles Lloyd

The suite had its first performance in November 2013 at the Jazztopad Festival in Wroclaw, Poland. This two-night staging will feature a rhythm section of pianist Gerald Clayton, bassist Joe Sanders and drummer Eric Harland along with Greek lyra player Sokratis Sinopoulos and Miklos Lucacs playing the Hungarian gypsy cimbalom.

On Saturday, the saxophonist will lead his acclaimed New Quartet (which has ironically been around since 2007) featuring celebrated pianist Jason Moran, bassist Reuben Rogers and the explosive Harland. The group performs songs from Lloyd's most recent ECM album Mirror as well as classic songs from earlier in his career. Sunday, Lloyd closes out the weekend with a special set collaborating with jazz guitar giant Bill Frisell and his frequent partner Greg Leisz on lap steel and dobro in addition to his quartet's rhythm section.
