Christmas Eve brings showers to Bay Area

Christmas Eve is relatively cold in the Bay Area with widespread rain.

KTVU's Steve Paulson says temperatures will be in the 40's for some areas, and 50's for others. Areas including Santa Rosa, St. Helena and Calistoga will see the coldest temperatures.

It will be breezy and cloudy with possible thunderstorms and hail at times.

The storm is dumping snow in the Sierra where there's a Winter Storm Warning in effect until 4 a.m. Friday.

The rain will be off and on all day Thursday and into Christmas morning.

A freeze warning is posted for late Friday into Saturday. Steve says we could see mid to upper 20's for lows.

After Christmas, we're expecting a dry forecast for several weeks.
