Cold snap hits the Bay Area, freeze warning issued

(BCN) - A freeze warning has been issued for much of Sunday morning in most interior Monterey Bay Area and San Francisco Bay Area locations, according to the National Weather Service.

The freeze warning went into affect at midnight and will last until 9 a.m.

A freeze warning means below-freezing temperatures are highly likely or imminent, weather service officials said.

The warning is not in effect for San Francisco. Temperatures in interior locations will range from the mid 20s to lower 30s.

The cold temperatures can damage crops and sensitive vegetation.

Pets, livestock and people who are outdoors for the night are at risk for hypothermia, according to weather service officials.
