California Highway Patrol says a suspected DUI driver killed a 51-year-old man in a head-on collision on Highway 4 in Brentwood on Monday.

CHP posted an update to their Facebook page. They said the incident involved two vehicles and that a 2018 Honda SUV traveling westbound, crossed solid double yellow lines into oncoming traffic before it collided into a 2013 Toyota Corolla.

The man who was killed's identity has not been released. CHP only said he was from Ripon, a town in San Joaquin County. He was pronounced dead on the scene by arriving medical personnel.

The driver of the Honda was arrested for suspicion of felony DUI for being under the influence of alcohol. The 46-year-old man from Concord was not injured, according to officials.

All lanes were reopened just before 6:30 p.m. after they were blocked for about two hours.

The accident was first reported at 4:35 p.m. between Marsh Creek Road and Balfour Road. Westbound traffic was diverted off at Marsh Creek Rd. Eastbound traffic diverted off at Balfour.

Skyfox was over the scene and saw the wrecked Corolla. Firefighters could be seen removing the roof off of the vehicle.
