Corgi Con Summer 2016 welcomes hundreds of corgis to SF's Ocean Beach
SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - A popular breed of pup is getting a lot of love Saturday in San Francisco.
Hundreds of Corgis are expected to show up at Ocean Beach for the biannual Corgi Con.
About 650 Corgis attended the event last fall.
Activities include a costume contest, a raffle and races.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ocean Beach, near Stairwell 21.
It began several years ago.
Founder Cynthia lee appeared on Saturday's Mornings on 2 to discuss the event.
She said it came out of her love and appreciation for the breed.
She said Corgis are full of love, and bring so much joy to the people around them.
The non-profit event has grown in popularity, with 40,000 followers on her dog's instagram account, "Corginista."
Proceeds from Nor Cal Corgi Con - Summer Edition 2016 Summer Edition go to Queen's Best Stumpy Dog Rescue, which is a group that works to save corgis.
